Iowa author Linda McCann will be speaking about one of her books in Melcher-Dallas September 23rd at the library.

The speech will be about the Civilian Conservation Corporation (CCC) and the role it played in the history of our state parks.

McCann says, “The Civilian Conservation Corporation (CCC) was a federal program back in the Depression Years to help young men support their families. Here in Iowa, I think most people know about the work done in the state parks, virtually every state park.”

The CCC was a group of young men between the ages of 17 and 23.
