The Pella Marching Dutch are gearing up for several competitions that begin later this fall after multiple public shows.

Drum Majors Stephen Gaul, Elisabeth Pumphrey, and Tess Hopkins say this year’s show theme is “Kiss from a Rose,” and highlights a special trip to Pasadena coming after the season wraps up this fall.

The full show for the Marching Dutch will be shown in its entirety at the “Big Reveal” Public Performance on Saturday, September 17th at 8 p.m. That comes one week ahead of the Marching Dutch Invitational, and PCM, Pella Christian, and Knoxville will all participate in the competition with 16 other bands from central Iowa, and Pella performing in exhibition to end the evening. Admission costs $10 for adults and $5 for students, with children five and under getting in free on September 24th. Click here for a full schedule.

Community performances will be held also at the remaining four home football games. Competitions this year include the Urbandale Marching Invitational (Oct. 1st), Valleyfest (Oct. 8th), and the Mid-Iowa Band Championships (Oct. 15th), as well as the Iowa High School Music Association State Contest in Pella on the 15th.
