The Simpson Storm women’s soccer team fell just short of Augustana Wednesday evening 2-1, while the volleyball squad was swept against the Prairie Wolves of Nebraska Wesleyan in the American Rivers Conference opener.
The soccer squad fell behind 2-0 in the first helf, then nearly completed the comeback with a goal from Hailey Kowzan but they couldn’t find the back of the net again to pick up the loss. They are now 2-3-1 on the season, and play Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Saturday.
The Storm volleyball squad hung tough with Nebraska Wesleyan, but fell 25-17, 25-15, and 25-23 to begin conference play.
Simpson falls to 4-5 overall and 0-1 in league play, and heads to La Crosse, Wis. to compete in their third nonconference tournament of the year.
