The Knoxville Cancer Relay team are now running to raise money to fight cancer. The ninth annual event started at 7 p.m. yesterday at Ken Locke Stadium and will wrap up 24 hours later when the team delivers the ball for Knoxville’s varsity football game vs. the Fairfield Trojans.
Pat Finan and Jayme Braida talk about the run, “For the most part each of us will do two or three legs we are scheduled for, but we get crazy and some do six or eight legs. I don’t know at this point. The legs themselves are five-mile loops that usually take a full hour. So, as two runners are coming in, two more are going out. There is also a three–mile and one-mile loop that is marked off. If people want to join us on the run, they can join us on the run. They can join us on any of the loops or stand on the sideline and cheer us on.”
There are a total of 21 members on the 2022 Knoxville Cancer Relay Team.
The relay has raised $165,000 in eight years.
