After dropping their last two games, the PCM Football team will look to get back in the win column on homecoming tonight in the district opener against Iowa Falls-Alden.
The Mustangs started out the season strong with a 48-13 win at Davis County but weren’t able to duplicate that offensive output the last two weeks in a 27-13 loss against Newton and a 28-7 loss at Class 1A’s #6 ranked Pella Christian. Trying to spark a change to the offense, the Mustangs have made some changes to better utilize the skillsets of the team.
On the other side of the field, Iowa Falls-Alden comes into the game having gone 0-3 in non-district play. The Cadets have allowed nearly 35 points per game this season, while scoring a total of just 14 points. Knowing that Iowa Falls-Alden will be hungry to snap the three-game losing streak, Mustangs head coach Greg Bonnett says his squad will have to be ready for anything the Cadets may throw their way.
“No one wants to go anything less than undefeated I’m sure, but you know, when your backs against the wall and your 0-3, that’s what I tell our guys. You gotta be ready. You know, its homecoming, they’re gonna come in here and they’re gonna be looking to ruin your evening. And you know you can’t let that happen. Well, how do you go about that? You take it one play at a time. You focus, you do your job, you fly around, you make tackles, you make plays, and you have fun.”
