The 2-1 Pleasantville football team returns home this week to host the 1-2 Sigourney-Keota Cobras tonight in their Class 1A District 6 opener.
Last season, Sigourney-Keota held the Pleasantville offense to just 63 total yards of offense in a 42-0 victory. This fall, the Trojans are coming off 35-7 victory at Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont while the Cobras are fresh off their first win of the season at Centerville 42-7. Knowing that the Cobras record isn’t reflective of the talent they have, Trojans head coach Mack Jorth says his squad has to be prepared for their physical and a well-coached opponent.
“It doesn’t matter what the record is. We’re not fooled by that. There are great football team, they’re a great program, they’re very well coached, they’re very physical and they’re gonna do what they do. They run one of the more difficult offenses to stop with their level of misdirection and physicality and quickness and aggression. So, you gotta be ready to stop that single wing offense. On defense, they just get after you, bust you in the mouth and attack the football with 11 dudes that are going to run and tackle you. So, we got to be ready to match their physicality, execute at a high level and be ready to play some football.”
Pleasantville’s district opener against Sigourney Keota tonight kicks off at 7:30 p.m.
