The Pleasantville football team was unable to carry the momentum of a great start against Sigourney-Keota Friday night, as they fell 35-13.
The Trojans hung tough with the Cobras for the first quarter and half of the game, finding themselves down just one point at 14-13. Sigourney-Keota would swing the momentum of the game in a hurry, returning the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown. From their it would be all Cobras as they scored two more times to down Pleasantville. In addition to the loss on the scoreboard, the Trojans lost Dillon Ammons in the game to an injury. Pleasantville head coach Mack Jorth said that they are hoping for some good news in regard to the injury and that other players will need to be ready to fill in depending on how long Ammons is sidelined.
“Yeah, it’s terrible, it’s a bummer and we hope to get him back soon. Hopefully he has a quick recovery and bounces back because he’s a very important part of our team and you never want to see a senior who’s worked so hard for this miss any action, but it happens. It’s a part of sports and we just got to do everything we can to fill in the gap for him being gone in lots of different areas because he plays linebacker and running back for us. So, there’s a lot of holes that need to be filled and everybody around him, all the rest of us need to really step up our game to fill in those missing pieces.”
Pleasantville’s record fell to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in district play. The Trojans will hope to bounce back next week at home against Central Decatur.
