After going a perfect 6-0 en route to winning the North Mahaska Invitational on Saturday, the Pella Christian volleyball team returns home tonight to host Newton in a Little Hawkeye Conference showdown.

With the six wins this weekend, the Eagles enter tonight’s contest with a 12-8 overall record. One of Pella Christian’s 12 wins came in a non-conference setting against Newton on Thursday. While they have beaten the Cardinals, Pella Christian head coach Tammi Wight knows how difficult it is to beat a team twice and says that her squad needs focus on maintaining their level of play.

“It always can be a trap once you beat a team. It’s hard to beat a team twice in a row. You never really know what you’re gonna get, when you walk out there. But we know we need to be ready, and that’s something we’ve been talking about, understanding that we can’t let our level of play go up and down. We’ve got to learn to steady our side and just stay balanced on our side and in our play and maintain our identity on our side and that will help us be more consistent.”

First serve for tonight’s matchup on Eagle Lane between Pella Christian and Newton is set for 7:15 pm.
