It’s too early to get final numbers but according to Kelli Kingrey, Marion County Assessor, assessments could be anywhere from 10 to 15 percent higher than last year. Assessments are all based on market values.
The final numbers will be known closer to March, Kingrey says.
“Values will probably, almost certainly, go up just because we have to follow the market trends and sales have been crazy over the past couple of years. But, I don’t have any for sure numbers right now.”
Kingrey presented a few residential assessments in Marion County. In 2015, the assessments increased eight percent. In 2017 the increase was four percent. The assessed number went up an average of 18 percent in 2019 and 13 percent in 2021.
