The City of Indianola has announced that Interim Indianola Police Department Chief Brian Sher has been selected to take over the position permanently. City Manager Ben Reeves said in a statement:

“Since assuming the role of Interim Chief, Brian and his leadership team have transformed the IPD through innovative advancements and opportunities such as adopting the
use of body cameras, rejoining the regional STAR program, deploying a drone program, and most recently by laying the framework to restore the IPD K-9 Unit. Chief Sher has fostered an environment of inclusion where officer’s ideas and opinions have met fertile ground. The trajectory of the IPD is exceptional and its momentum is strong. Members of the IPD feel valued and part of a team in which their voices are respected.”

Reeves said the search was comprehensive and inclusive, and Sher was selected from a candidate pool of 18 by three different hiring panels. Chief Sher will be sworn in at the Indianola City Council meeting to be held on Monday, October 3rd. Find the full release below.
