The Knoxville Cross Country Squads will have another chance at the course they know best…Pine Knolls Golf Club as it is Knoxville’s turn to host the South Central Conference meet on October 11th. The boys have a goal of contending for the conference crown and Isaac Rankin has a goal of competing for the individual title. While the girls are not one of the favorites this season, they know they will have home course advantage. Girls Runner Janie Maasdam tells KNIA/KRLS Sports she is looking forward to running on a course dubbed one of the toughest in the area for the conference and knowing how to handle it.
Maasdam: “The second time, let’s just say it was a lot colder. It was a smack in the face in August, but I like running this course, it’s a good course and I feel like I know it like the back of my hand now.”
The first time the Panthers ran at Pine Knolls this season, it was in August when the temperature that afternoon was near 90, Tuesday the temperature at the start of the varsity races was 63 degrees, nearly 30 degrees cooler.
