The Iowa State Patrol is running a special traffic enforcement project over the next week, focusing on the Iowa State Patrol initiatives of wearing a seatbelt, impaired and distracted driving, and excessive speed. Trooper Darren Flaherty tells KNIA News extra enforcement will be placed on those driving with excessive speed, as they are noticing drivers going much faster than the posted limit, which lowers reaction times and causes more and dangerous accidents. The goal of the project is to reduce the number of accidents, and get below 300 traffic fatalities for the year. For more information, click below.
