It was a happy homecoming for the Knoxville Football Squad as the Panthers dominated from start to finish over Saydel 42-6 in a game heard live on 95.3 KNIA. The Panthers dictated things from the start, scoring on their first possession on a seven yard pass from Noah Keefer to Koby Higginbotham. Knoxville would get another score on the defensive side of the ball when Jay Kellar returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown and the route was one as Knoxville would add two more scores in the first quarter on by T.J. DeJong and another by Kellar on the offensive end to hold a 28-0 lead after the= first 12:00 of play. Knoxville would coast from there, adding a score in the 2nd quarter by Andon Trout, and another by Trout in the 4th to cap off the Knoxville scoring. Coach Matt Dunkin told KNIA/KRLS Sports that while it was great to get his first coaching victory he was more happy for the players and seeing all of the work they put in finally go their way.
Dunkin: “I feel even more excited for the guys. Just how hard they’ve been working even over the summer until now, it’s great to see them get rewarded for their hard work”
Noah Keefer was efficient, completing 10/15 for 135 yards two touchdowns and one interception plus he added 80 yards on the ground while Kellar had five receptions for 53 yards and a touchdown plus the pick six. Knoxville is now 1-5 on the season and will host Atlantic for senior night next Friday.
