The Knoxville City Council met in regular session last night. The mayor read a proclamation recognizing National Fire Prevention Week October 9-15. The mayor also read a proclamation recognizing National Code and Compliance Month. Thrive Knoxville presented a Gateway Project to help enhance the entry to Knoxville from the south side of town off Highway 14.

There was an update on the Dixie Gephardt House EOI Process and the Library Board’s Work On The Alternative Programming Park Space.

There was a discussion on providing sign-on bonuses of no less than $5,000 and no more than $10,000 to current Certified Police Officers hired by the Knoxville Police Department dependent upon experience, education and training which was approved by council.

The city council discussed the purchase of a Rescue Pumper for the Fire Department.It was approved for the cost of $345,500.
