Melcher-Dallas Cross Country Runner Hailey Stegman had a great day running at Centerville on Tuesday. Stegman set a new personal record with a time of 22:37 placing 39th. Coach Amy Stuart told KNIA Sports Stegman is rapidly improving and is hoping to round out the year with another personal best in the last two meets of the season. Meanwhile, the Melcher-Dallas Volleyball Squad went 1-1 at the East Union Triangular on Tuesday. The Saints lost to Southeast Warren in two sets 25-9 and 25-14. Hayden Branson led in digs with ten. The Saints picked up a win over East Union 26-24, 21-25, and 15-6. Gabby Overgaard had five kills to lead Melcher-Dallas and Karsyn Mateer was perfect in 14 serve attempts. Coach Jesyka Nolte told KNIA Sports that the East Union match was a much needed win to stop a Long losing streak. Players Kasyn Reed, Brooklyn Metz, and Saydi Benz tell KNIA Sports it is all about being on the same page with each other and if that happens they are confident things can get turned around.

Kaysn: “Definitely making more serves and getting to your defensive spot.”
Metz: “If we are all on the same page we’re a pretty good team so just getting on the same page with each other.”
Benz: “Just being positive on the bench and not letting anything get into our heads.”

Melcher-Dallas is 4-12 on the season. Listen for an interview with Reed, Metz and Benz on tonight’s Radio Sports Page on KNIA at 6:00.
