pleasantville-3

In a must win game for the Pleasantville football team, the Trojans did just that as they handled Van Buren 49-8.

In addition to keeping their postseason aspirations alive, Pleasantville also improved to a perfect 4-0 all-time against the Warriors. A big contributor in keeping both their playoff hopes and unbeaten mark against Van Buren alive was quarterback and linebacker Parker Sheets. After suffering a shoulder injury in the second quarter of the loss against Pella Christian the week prior, Sheets returned to the field against the Warriors and made several key plays throughout the game. Trojans’ head coach Mack Jorth was thrilled that Sheets was able to step up in a big moment and help the team win in the Senior signal caller’s final home game at Pleasantville.

“I was just very proud of him. I thought he did a great job of competing, leading his team tonight, made a lot of plays, played really well. So, it’s very rewarding and exciting to see him go out on such a high note and play so well, especially after dealing with such a tough injury. I tell you what, man, it shows a lot about his character and his toughness. He is going to do everything he can to be out there helping his team win. That really showed tonight and this week as he worked back from that injury, and I was just real pleasantly surprised to see him responsible to treatment and healing so quickly and be able to get back out there. So, it’s neat to see. Real happy for him, and I’m glad it happened that way and just real proud of his efforts and his toughness.”

While the Trojans playoff hopes are still alive, they are not locked into the postseason as of yet. With a now 1-3 record in district play, Pleasantville can lock up a postseason spot with a win against Cardinal this upcoming Friday, and a Van Buren loss against Sigourney Keota.
