indianola-8

The Indianola volleyball team can clinch a share of the Little Hawkeye Conference title tonight, as they host Pella for senior night. The Indians are 9-2 in the month of October including a 6-0 run in their own tournament on Saturday, only dropping games to ranked foes class 2A #2 Western Christian and class 5A #7 Waukee Northwest, and of their six losses on the season four came from ranked class 5A opponents. Head coach Kent Halstead tells KNIA Sports the Indians control the ball well, but they will look to improve on blocking as the season heads towards regional play.

“We just have to block better. You set up your defense behind your block, and sometimes we don’t press over, and a bad block is worse than no block at all. A strength is serve and receive, and a weakness is a consistent block so we can play our defense behind it.”

First serve is tonight at 7:15pm.
