The Knoxville Cross Country Squads will host their third event at Pine Knolls Golf Club today for the South Central Conference Meet. Both Knoxville squads are trying to get as good a finish as possible while putting in their final tune up before the State Qualifier next week. Girls Runner Janie Maasdam tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the goal today is to get a fast time going into the state qualifier.

Maasdam: “Just to stay consistent with what I’m running now. I’m happy with where I am now and just to get better times for myself and all the girls.”

The boys have a possibility of an individual champion as freshman Isaac Rankin has been finishing in the top two or three for most of the season. In the Knoxville Invitational two weeks ago he was 2nd in a field full of 3A and 4A teams. Racing gets underway at around 4:15 with middle school races with the high school competition around 5:00. While Knoxville will host the South Central Conference in cross country, the class 4A #13 Knoxville Volleyball Squad will head to Chariton to finish up conference play tonight. Knoxville is 21-11 after going 2-3 at the Pella Invitational on Saturday and 4-2 in the conference. A win would clinch 2nd place in the conference.
