The Novavax Vaccine is the fourth vaccine authorized by the FDA for prevention of COVID 19. It doesn’t totally prevent the illness, but it can make the illness less intense.

Marion County Public Health Nurse Judi Van Hulzen tells KNIA/KRLS News about the vaccine, “The Novavax vaccine is a traditional vaccine that is made just like the flu vaccine or Hep B. It’s traditional, it’s made by taking a piece of that virus and making it into a dead vaccine and then when it’s introduced into our body, our bodies react by creating antibodies that fight the virus. The only good analogy I have is if it’s a two dose vaccine, the first dose gives you the gun and the second dose gives you the bullet to fight that virus.”
