The Norwalk boys and girls cross country teams won’t have far to go for next week’s Class 4A State Qualifying Meet.
The state released its coed state qualifying meet assignments on Tuesday, with Norwalk slated as one of nine teams to run at Indianola on Wednesday, October 19. The competition will take place at Pickard Park starting with the girls race at 4:00 p.m., followed by the boys race at 4:30.
Schools in the field include Ames, Des Moines East, Des Moines North, Fort Dodge, Indianola, Johnston, Norwalk, Ottumwa and Southeast Polk. The top three teams and top 15 individuals from each race will qualify for the 2022 State Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 29, at Fort Dodge.
The Norwalk boys are once again ranked second in Class 4A in this week’s Iowa Association of Track Coaches rankings. The boys state qualifying meet at Indianola also includes third-ranked Johnston and No. 13 Ames.
The Warrior boys earned their third consecutive Little Hawkeye Conference title on Monday at Dallas Center while the Warrior girls placed fifth.
