
The Simpson College women’s and men’s soccer squads traveled to Central College Tuesday, sweeping the Dutch in a pair of 6-1 and 1-0 wins respectively.
The Storm women dominated throughout, blowing up early for four goals in the first half from Avery Plathe, Brissa Valadez, Cassie Nash, and Megan Roberts, then Roberts added another in the opening minutes of the second half to go ahead 5-0. Central got a goal back in the second half from Abbey Frey, but the Storm closed the door with a third goal from Roberts to complete the hat trick. The Storm improve to 6-5-1 overall and 3-2 in conference action, while Central is now 7-4-2 overall and 1-2-1 in conference.
The Storm and Dutch men’s contest was close the entire way through, the only goal being scored by Ronaldo Ordaz-Zambra in the 18th minute. Central keeper John Foster was tested throughout the contest, earning 7 saves while the Storm defense limited any Dutch offense throughout the entire match. Simpson improves to 10-3-1 on the season and 3-1-1 in American Rivers Conference action, while Central falls to 2-8-2 and 1-2-1.
