The Dutch offense could not be stopped on the ground or through the air as they dominated Clear Creek-Amana 35-2, as heard live on the KRLS2 stream Friday night.
Pella scored on all five possessions of the first half, and only faced two third downs in the opening pair of quarters.
Kenson Fuller rushed for 166 yards on 18 carries — 13 went for first downs and another was a touchdown as he passed 1,000 yards on the season. Fuller is the first Pella player to do so in six years, dating back to Nick Finney in 2016. Cam Schulte racked up an interception, sack, tackle for loss, and three first downs receiving. Luke Hardman threw for two scores and Beau Bush added another, with CJ Shetterly finishing with 89 yards receiving and two of those touchdowns through the air.
Pella (2-6 overall, 2-2 in 4A District 4) still has hope for a playoff berth next week — the Dutch take on Cedar Rapids Washington (5-3 overall, 3-1 in district), who is currently 2nd in Class 4A, District 4. A Dutch win and Newton loss would get Pella an automatic postseason bid.
