The Indianola City Council met in regular session Monday evening, where the council asked city staff to bring back a revised ordinance regarding the use of fireworks within city limits, shortening the number of days fireworks are allowed rather than voting approval of an outright ban.
The council was also scheduled to hold a discussion regarding the use of Bird Scooters in the city, however the city was notified immediately before the meeting that Bird Scooters intends to end the agreement with Indianola and remove all scooters within a month.
The council also approved a FY23 budget amendment, an agreement with the Iowa DOT for a grant program regarding the resurfacing of Hillcrest, and infrastructure improvements to Boston Ave before going into closed session to discuss the purchase or sale of real estate. Before the meeting began, the council first met in a study session to receive a presentation on the Capital Improvement Plan, and the Hometown Pride Project “Wonder on Buxton”.
