The Pella Marching Dutch celebrated another successful competition season Monday morning. Triumph Martial Arts provided donuts for all 200+ members to enjoy while rewatching their final performance during competition of the fall season. Owners Chris and Matt White wanted to show appreciation to the directors and students for their hard work this fall. “Kiss from a Rose” earned a 90.2 score at the Mid Iowa Band Championship in Ankeny, the highest of any participating, and one of the biggest numbers Marching Dutch Director Dameon Place has seen in his many years of following high school marching contests and festivals. Pella outscored every Iowa-based band in head-to-head competition, and also earned the school’s 46th consecutive Division I “Superior” Rating at the Iowa High School Music Association State Festival. The final performance of “Kiss from a Rose” in Iowa from the Marching Dutch will take place this Friday during halftime of the Pella-Cedar Rapids Washington varsity football game, which can also be heard live on KRLS2 and viewed on the Pella Dutch Live YouTube channel. The Marching Dutch will then next perform in Pasadena, California, in the Tournament of Roses Parade and Bandfest at the end of this calendar year. Stay tuned to 92.1 KRLS for live updates from California after Christmas.
