Mammography services at Pella Regional Health Center recently received a Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) Inspection by the Iowa Department of Public Health and all areas reviewed were found to be in compliance with the standards. This certification is recognition of the program’s commitment to continuous improvement.
The Breast Care Program team members, including radiologist Dr. Alison Smith, Susan Veenstra, Quality Assurance Coordinator and the Medical Imaging Technicians, are part of the team offering services to patients close to home in Pella.
During Breast Cancer Awareness Month every October, Smith says Pella Regional aims to remind women to take care of themselves and schedule a screening mammogram. She believes early detection of breast cancer is important as it increases a woman’s chance of survival. Women can get their low dose 3D mammogram for breast cancer screening by contacting Pella Regional Health Center at 641-628-6620.
