Drought is worsening across most of the state, including south central Iowa. The latest U.S. Drought Monitor Report shows severe drought has spread west to now include all of Warren County, and the areas that received heavy rain in September are back in the D2 category as well. Dry conditions and near record high temperatures are possible this weekend, according to the National Weather Service, and the next best chance for rain returns on Monday — although widespread heavy rainfall is not expected.
