Indianola Volleyball Advances to Regional Final with Sweep of Winterset
The #4 Indianola volleyball team swept Winterset in the regional semifinal on their home court Thursday evening to advance to the regional final 3-0. The Indians stormed out of the gate in their patented winning by attrition model, wearing down the Huskies over the course of the entire match winning the first set 25-22, then the second 25-18, and finishing the sweep with a 25-16 victory. The Indians are now one game away from qualifying to the state tournament, and will match up with unranked ADM who swept Boone in the other half of the bracket. The regional final will be at Indianola High School on Tuesday at 7pm.
Indianola Football Travels to Boone in Season Finale
The Indianola football team makes the road trip to Boone to attempt to end the season on a high note tonight, after dropping their two previous district games to Carlisle and Bondurant-Farrar. The Indians come in ranked 10th in the RPI provided by the state, and with a win has a chance to secure a top-10 finish in class 4A, however that won’t be as easy as it looks against the 1-win Toreadors. Indians head coach Eric Kluver says Boone has played one of the toughest schedules in the entire state, and are much better than their record shows.
“When you turn on film, they do a lot of really good things against some of the top programs in the state. They struggle to consistently do it, they struggle a little bit in special teams and that has worked themselves out of some ball games. But they are a really physical front, they do a nice job of running the football, they have a really good back, and that is going to present some major challenges for us tonight.”
The game can be heard live on 94.3 KNIA, with Andrew Swadner and Rick Wilson on the play-by-play. Pregame coverage begins at 6:30pm, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30.
