Beggars Night has been set at communities around the county.
Knoxville has set Trick or Treat Night for the children Monday, October 31st from 6 to 8 p.m. Beggars Night in Pleasantville will also be October 31st from 6 to 8 p.m.
Bussey has set aside Saturday, October 29th as Beggars Night from 4 to 6 p.m. Melcher-Dallas will have children knocking at the door for Beggars Night Sunday, October 30th; between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. The Iowa State Extension Office is holding a Trunk or Treat Halloween event Thursday, October 27th from 5 to 7 p.m.at the Marion County Fairgrounds in Dyer-Hudson Hall. Over 30 businesses/organizations have signed up to pass out candy this year. Children are encouraged to dress up in their Halloween costumes.
Lydia Dingeman, Education Coordinator for the Iowa State Extension Office says it is their second year for the event. She tells KNIA/KRLS News what the event is all about for the kids, “Walk around, meet all the people, get all kinds of candy. Tons and tons of candy. Rumor has it there may be some cotton candy there this year.”
The Knoxville High School Student Senate is putting on a Trunk or Treat event Friday at the high school from 5 p.m.to 7 p.m. Many organizations will be giving out candy. Come in costume and get some candy.
New Journey Church will be hosting their 6th Annual Halloween event, October 31st from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church. There will be a bouncy house, popcorn, candy and games along with live music at the gathering.
