Students in the Knoxville 8th grade class will depart for Washington, D.C., Thursday, Oct. 27th through Sunday, Oct. 30th. Among the sites that the eighth grade students will see on the trip are the Smithsonian Museum and a guided evening sightseeing tour.
They will also see the Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens, the US Capitol Building, Library of Congress and US Supreme Court, Arlington National Cemetery, US Marine Corps War Memorial, the Holocaust Memorial Museum and more.
Uitermarkt says, “Going to DC ties right in with our Social Studies curriculum. The students learn a lot about Government History. So, it’s a pretty cool thing for the kids to go and see a lot of what they read about on-line or in text books.”
Knoxville teacher Jim Uitermarkt will be taking a total of 53 students on the trip.
