The Simpson volleyball squad swept Central 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-21) in the regular season finale Wednesday evening, securing their sixth place finish in the American Rivers Conference standings.
The Storm started slow as the Dutch earned an early lead, but a 7-1 run would get them a lead and they wouldn’t look back to win the first set, then the Storm scored seven of the first eight points in the second set to go ahead 2-0. The third featured eight ties and four lead changes, but the Storm eventually won the battle to complete the sweep.
The Storm improve to 4-4 in conference play, good for a tie for fourth, but lose out on tiebreakers and will be the sixth seed in the upcoming tournament, facing Buena Vista on Tuesday.
Central falls to 1-7 in league play finishing in eighth place, with their 2022 season coming to a close.
