The Indianola School Board held a work session Tuesday, including reviewing the Emergency Operations Plan for district facilities. Superintendent Ted Ihns tells KNIA News the district and board have put a priority on student safety, and the discussion centered around being as prepared as possible.

“Really what it comes down to is making sure if there was an incident, a tragic incident or if we had to evacuate the building because of a gas leak or something of that nature, that we have a plan in place in case any of those emergencies happen.”

The plans will be brought back before the board at a regular meeting for approval, which will then be followed by practicing the plan for all the schools in the district.
