While much of the region received a shot in the arm from rainfall earlier this week, a lot of progress is still needed for long-term drought relief in south central Iowa. Most of the region remains in severe drought, according to the latest national report. Statewide, conditions largely remained the same, with all of Iowa rated as abnormally dry and nearly 85% considered in drought of varying conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, warmer than normal temperatures are expected well into the next week, with little-to-no chances for rainfall expected into the first days of November.
