The Indianola Girls Rugby Club has qualified to the state championship tournament played this Sunday, as Indianola comes in as the #5 seed in the eight-team meet. Indianola went 6-4 in division play which includes teams from across the state including Cedar Falls, Waverly Shell Rock and Fort Dodge among others. Cassy Anderson tells KNIA News the squad she and the team have improved so much throughout the course of the season, and applying those lessons at state will allow the team to play to their potential.

“I think it’s really important we all keep our heads up and stay humble throughout state. Keep what we’ve been training throughout the week in our heads and execute it in the game. As long as we do what we know how to do, I think we will really show up.”

Indianola will play #4 seed Central Springs Sunday at 11:20am at Southeast Polk High School. To listen to the full interview with coaches and players, click below.
