Marla Mertz Naturalist for Marion County notes that it is time to be more aware of deer in the roadways. Deer rut continues into the month of November. Bucks and does are commonly found out and about at all times of the day.

Rut continues until the third week of November or so. With most of the fields being harvested, the deer generally move to cover closer to trees, river corridors, and brushy, dense areas.

Mertz says please be observant and be safe. Many of these areas are very close to roadways. November 6th will be daylight savings time and this change can heighten travel during their movement times.
