The Downtown Indianola Square Reconstruction Project has completed all streetside construction, marking a significant milestone in the years-long project. City of Indianola Community and Economic Development Director Charlie Dissell tells KNIA News the square is an investment in the city and businesses, and he appreciates the flexibility and understanding of local businesses who had to endure the brunt of the project.

“Obviously there is no easy way to reconstruct roads and utilities in the ground while you have businesses who front right to those roads essentially. So we had to be mindful of that, and we did everything we could to make sure those businesses still had access, but in the end it wasn’t easy. There were times when business owners really got frustrated with what was going on, but we’ve now reached the end and from this point in the future I think the payback to those businesses is going to be great.”
