While much of the spotlight was on Rylee Dunkin for the Twin Cedars Cross Country Program the rest of the members also made improvements throughout the season. One who just missed out on the state meet this year was Cheyanne Bruns. Bruns did accomplish a lot this season winning her first career race. Coach Theresa Davis tells KNIA/KRLS Sports Bruns was a hard worker and never missed a meet this season.
Davis: “She was really in the top 20 in most of the meets this season, and in the biggest meets this season. She just pushed along and never let up.”
Davis adds Sophia Cowan, Annabelle Lucky and Jayden Weldon also made improvements throughout the season. Davis says there are middle school runners looking to step in next season. She says while no one is expected to accomplish what Rylee Dunkin did in her career, they do have that to look up to and strive for.
