The Simpson football team couldn’t find the endzone on the final drive as they fell to Buena Vista 26-21 Saturday in the season finale, as heard live on 94.3 KNIA.

The Storm struck first on the opening drive, with Desmond Alexander leading the way on a three-yard run to take a 7-0 lead. The Beavers answered on a two-play drive, but a blocked extra point maintained the Storm lead at 7-6. The rest of the first half however was all Beavers, as they scored two more touchdowns to take a 19-6 lead into halftime with Simpson missing a field goal and fumbling at the BV two yard line.

Simpson began to come back in the second half however, cutting the lead to 19-14 to end the third, but the score was again answered for a 26-14 lead early in the fourth, The Storm scored with 11 minutes to go to get the deficit down to 26-21, and the Beavers answered with a drive that ate up the majority of the clock, before the Storm defense forced a fumble with just minutes remaining to give them a chance to win it, but the drive faltered in the red zone and was turned over on downs with less than a minute remaining.

Head coach Matt Jeter says he’s proud of the guys for fighting to the very end, and while this season hasn’t gone the way they wanted it to, he knows the graduating seniors will be successful for the years to come.

Simpson ends their season with a 1-9 record.
