The second annual KNIA/KRLS Food Drive Radiothon was held Tuesday. Local and state food bank directors, volunteers, school representatives, business leaders, food shelf clients, and others came together to share stories of community, the power of giving, and alleviating the stigma of using food shelves.

Listeners on FM 95.3/94.3 AM 1320 KNIA heard from Helping Hands in Knoxville Director Chuck Galeazzi about the needs of the community food banks, Executive Director of WeLIFT in Indianola Sue Wilson on how job security and food security are tied together, and school personnel from area school districts about the importance of making sure kids are fed in order to learn properly.

Wilson tells KNIA News that as a community, it is our job to make sure we come together in times of need, as we don’t know who is in need of assistance, or if we ourselves will someday need help.
