Near record cold temperatures are likely today and well-below normal highs and lows are expected through Sunday. Daytime temperatures are expected to reach the low 20s locally today and Saturday, and morning wind chills will approach and even possibly drop below zero in the mornings. The previous coldest high temperature in Marion County for November 18th is 22, set in 1937. Although the bitter air won’t be as dangerous as the type of cold bursts typically seen later in the season, mornings will be especially uncomfortable. A warming trend will likely begin early next week, and temperatures may be closer to normal by Thanksgiving, with highs in the 40s.
