After a tough season that saw the Pella Christian girls basketball team manage four wins last year, Eagles first-year head coach Jordan Dyk is hoping to reenergize the program this winter.
While skill development and strategy could help the Eagles return to the success they had in the mid-2000’s to early 2010’s, Coach Dyk believes that building an inviting culture around the program is the first step to getting P.C. back on track.
“For me, I think the biggest thing is, you got to make this program something where the girls want to be a part of, and I think then if the girls wanna be here, that success will start coming over time. It’s not gonna be overnight. We’re gonna take our lunch bucket, get to work every day, try to continue to grow and get better. But I don’t think you can do that if you don’t have the relationship part, if you don’t know who they are a little bit. And if they know you’re on their side, you can put in all the work and effort to fix the X’s and O’s stuff. But first is that relationship part making it something that’s enjoyable and fun to be around.”
Pella Christian opens the 2022-2023 season on the road this Tuesday, when they travel to Montezuma for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
