Groundbreaking event slated for former VA grounds
Marion County and the City of Knoxville will be kicking off the initial phase of redevelopment on the former Veterans Administration grounds. The area that is slated to get underway is for 34 new housing units.
Knoxville CIty Manager Heather Ussery tells KNIA/KRLS News about the development, “This project came in about 10 percent under the engineer’s estimate, right around $3 million. So, we are pleased with the bid result. This project will be a subdivision of 34 lots, as well as all the servicing of infrastructure for those lots.”
There will be a groundbreaking ceremony Monday, November 21st at 10 a.m. at the South entrance of the campus along West Pleasant Street.
