The Indianola girls basketball team will have two seniors on this year’s squad, including four-year starter Emily Naughton and Gillian Smith. Head coach Jeff Janssen tells KNIA Sports he will be relying on those two quite a bit to set an example for the younger athletes.

“They have really set a great standard for coming to work each day this season, and in their own way. They are quiet by nature, but they are two girls that care a lot about the program and care a lot about their teammates, and they’ve each had success in their own ways. Those two are without a doubt the leaders on our team.”

The Indians start their season Tuesday on the road at Des Moines East.
