Eleven Norwalk girls wrestlers competed in the Central Iowa Kickoff Tournament held Saturday at Nevada. The Warriors scored 30 points and finished 25th out of 28 teams. The top three squads were Perry with 190 points, Raccoon River-Northwest with 173 and Dallas Center-Grimes 156.
Norwalk place-winners on the day included Masie Silvius taking 7th at 190 pounds and Alysse Ivanovich 8th at 105. Silvius led the Warriors with 10 points scored, going 2-2 with two wins by fall.
Also for Norwalk, Isabel Evans went 3-2 with three pins and nine points at 125 and Sophie Davis was 2-2 with two pins and seven points at 155. At 170 pounds, Kamryn McWilliams went 1-2 with a pin and three points, Katelynne Liedtke was 2-2 with 2 pins and Kayleigh Meneough was 1-2 with a pin.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
The Norwalk girls basketball team will open the season on Monday night with a non-conference game at ADM (Adel). The junior varsity will play at 6:00 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7:30.
Also on Monday, the Norwalk bowling teams will open their season with a 2:00 p.m. dual against Newton at the Air Lanes Bowling Center in Des Moines.
The Warrior boys basketball team will host Des Moines Christian for a scrimmage on Monday night. The JV plays at 6:00 p.m. and the varsity tips off at 7:00.
