Three of the graduating seniors from the Pella Girls Basketball team left some shoes to fill for a core group of returning members in 2023. A backcourt combining for 24 points per game with Anna Vander Waal, Anna Childerston, and Reagan Van Wyk has left the Dutch coaching staff seeking some development for those who played a lot behind that group, according to Head Coach Blaine Forsythe.
Kennedy Van Vark returns as the leader of the guard group for the Dutch, averaging 8 points per contest last winter and showing flashes of bigger scoring potential. From there, now senior Kylie Tauke remains a likely option for more minutes, averaging 5.9 points per game, and juniors Abby Warner and Tristan Gordon each came in as rotation players one year ago, and look to see a larger chunk of action in place of those leaving.
Mia Warner returns as the top player in the paint from the 2021-22 team, scoring 5.8 points per game and collecting 7.4 rebounds, and she’ll be reinforced by Hailey Van Vark (3.6 PPG/2.4 RPG) and Eliza Van Zee (1.9 PPG and 1.6 RPG).
Pella kicks of the girls basketball season Tuesday at Mount Pleasant.
