The Knoxville eighth grade Mock Trial Team has qualified for State. State competition will be Wednesday, November 30th through Friday, December 2nd at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines.

Regional action for the teams was held in Marshalltown November 12th. The Knoxville 8th grade team was third out of 12 teams. The top three teams qualified for State. The Knoxville seventh grade team didn’t qualify as they finished fifth in the team  standings.

A few of the seventh grade members were called up to go to state with the eighth grade team. 

Coach Lisa Hermsen tells KNIA/KRLS News, “I’m taking 13 total to state because we’ve pulled up some seventh graders and we are going to have a full roster for the state competition. We combined our seventh and eighth grade teams. The eighth grade team is the one that actually advanced based on their wins, but the seventh grade team scored more points so we felt that was the fair thing to do.”

The Knoxville High School Mock Trial season is in the spring.
