With just six regular season games against schools in Class 1A and 2A, the Pella Christian girls basketball team will face several tough tests this season.
The Eagles faced their first challenge last Tuesday in a 56-42 loss at Class 1A #11 ranked Montezuma. P.C. will be tested once again this Tuesday when they host Class 2A #6 ranked Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont. Once Little Hawkeye Conference play begins, the Eagles will face a pair ranked teams in Class 4A in #3 ranked Dallas Center-Grimes and #10 ranked Indianola. Senior Karlie Anderson says that while having a tough schedule may impact their regular season record, it will beneficial come postseason time.
“We gain a lot of good things from that. We know where we need to focus on, and even just from one game so far, we know our weak areas and we know where we have to focus on in practice and focus on working in the next few games we have coming up so that it doesn’t become a problem later on in the year. And then when we get to regional play, we’re playing our best basketball of the year.”
The 0-1 Pella Christian girls basketball team returns to action Tuesday for their home opener against Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont.
