The State Dance competition will be held in Des Moines at Hy-Vee Hall and Wells Fargo Arena starting Wednesday, November 30 through Friday, December 2.

Knoxville has six students who will be competing at state and Pleasantville has four at state dance and three more in color guard competition in Des Moines.

Competing for Pleasantville for dance solos Wednesday are Emily Dority, Sophia Mason, Emma Danks and Peyton Seuferer.

In action for the color guard solos for Pleasantville on November 30 are Addison Wall, Holly Mull, and Katherine Nickel.

Pleasantville will compete November 30 for team competition in Color Guard Class I and Pom Class V.

Knoxville will be in state competition Thursday, December 1. The solos for Knoxville are Hayden Hudson, Remy Vasquez-Smith, Kate Schneider, Reese Roberts, Harper Chambers, and Shae Wheelock. 

Knoxville dance teacher Devin Dunkin tells KNIA/KRLS News, “So this Thursday, we have our state dance championships in Des Moines and we’ll be bringing our six soloists on Thursday morning and we have three team events in the afternoon and evening at Wells Fargo.”

Knoxville will be in team competition December 1 for Jazz Class V, Prop Class II and Pom Class X. Pleasantville will be in team competition in Novelty Class II December 1.

Dunkin said the Prop routine has to have a story with it. Knoxville will have a race background and the girls will be dancing with checkered flags, gas cans, steering wheels and Hoosier tires.
