After a period of average to above average conditions since the holiday break for most, much more unsettled temperatures are expected the rest of the week across south central Iowa.
According to the National Weather Service, most of the local area will be spared wintry precipitation today as a strong cold front pushes through, but much colder wind chills in the single digits are expected by Wednesday morning. A warm up returns just in time for the first few days of the Kerstmarkt and Tour of Homes in Pella Thursday and Friday with highs back in the 40s and 50s, before another burst of cooler air potentially returns by Saturday. Again, no snow is anticipated with any of the fronts despite the roller coaster of warm to cool.
The next best chance for precipitation is coming mainly early next week as temps again warm Sunday and Monday before cooling later in the week.
