The Indianola wrestling team hosts Newton to begin their 2022-23 season, dual season, and Little Hawkeye Conference season tonight. The Indians bring back a host of quality wrestlers from last year’s state qualifying team including Bowen Downey, Cael Meacham, Jaxson Boyd, and Isaiah Kellow among others who scored significant points, but head coach Clint Manny tells KNIA Sports they will have to see a lot of freshman from last year including Jake and AJ Pontier and Ryan Young step into new roles this year for the team to continue their success.

“We are looking for a big jump out of those guys and if they just pick up where they left off last year they are in a really good spot. I think they are going to turn a lot of heads here as the season progresses.”

The squad hits the mats tonight at 7:30pm.
