Tonight is the season opener for the Knoxville Wrestling Squad. The Panthers look to have a big year on the mats and it starts with a road trip to Nevada. The Panthers took care of the Cubs last year and look to get the season started off good by winning their first dual of the season. Coach Skylar Spaur tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he is about as deep as he has been except at the upper weights. He adds the experience will also pay off with most of his guys getting mat time last year.

Spaur: “We have more depth than we ever have had up until 95. We really need our 95 and Heavyweight to stay healthy. We also have guys that don’t have varsity experience but have wrestled before and they’re getting advice from guys who have wrestled before.”

Spaur adds the goal is to go unbeaten in the duals this season and win a couple of traditional meets as well.
